Some random thoughts and findings

Hello dear friends!  So I am still working on getting over the early pregnancy yuckiness so today's post is a little less organized than I could hope but I hope you enjoy it anyway.  =)

1) Music Suggestion:  Jane Lui!  http://janelui.com/  You have to check her out!!!  I love her music because she is creative and thinks outside the box when she creates - something I can only hope to emulate!  I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.  And she's an independent artist.  I guess I think that her work is to music what handmade artists are to Etsy.  =)
2) If you need a gift for a nursing or expecting mom, you need to see this.  This is just one example but I promise you that if the new mommy does not have one yet, she will love you for this.  I have seen moms use this at home or in public for a little bit of privacy from other children or in general.  And it's cute!!!  How much better can it get?!

3) I need inspiration!  I've been hitting a road block with some of my new creations and even decorating the new house.  So I'm turning to all of you!  What do you do to get over creator's block?!

I've missed you all and just wanted to give a little shout out to my blogging buddies - you are all a blessing to me whether it's reading your blogs and getting your comments.  So thank you.  =)

And have a beautiful day!!!

I LOVE Dress Up!!!

I know this is a little belated but did anyone else watch the Grammy's this year?  I'll be honest, I tuned in for the red carpet part because I wanted to see what everyone was wearing and then I left the room to take care of other business.  But I was somewhat disappointed by what I saw this year.  There were a lot of dresses that had lots of sparkle but little class.  Now, I'm not at all the fashion police but being a fashion designer was always one of my little girl fantasies and I like to think that I have cultivated a little bit of awareness when it comes to these things...with a slightly more classic taste.  =)

So to make sure that I knew I wasn't going crazy with my fashion sense, I turned to my trusty Etsy.  Someone out there is hand making something that will blow those red carpet fashions out of the water.  And here's my top three picks.  What do you think of them?

There were a lot of ladies rocking shorter dresses at the Grammy's this year (like J. Lo's pick here) but I thought a lot of them were just ridiculously short.  This Etsy find was a little more moderate and in my taste.  =)

Usually, I'm not the biggest fan of deep V cuts in the front of gowns but since at least one person insists on doing it at every award show and I really like this dress, I had to include it.  =)

This is probably my favorite pick.  I am loving romantic, whimsy, ruffly dresses.  And this Etsian custom colors each gown she makes so if you wanted a different color, you completely have that choice!

An Announcement

So I thought it was about time that my blogosphere friends heard my news.

I'm pregnant!

Now I haven't known for too long myself but I figured it out pretty quickly when I felt sick one day and the feeling didn't leave for the next four weeks.  =)  So right now, it is pretty much just a survival game.  But I am slowly easing into this funky feeling that isn't leaving and starting to enjoy the prospect of being a mother.

So in addition to all of the things that you usually hear from me with my sprinkling of fashion, food, craftiness (my feeble attempts at it), and other odds and ends, you may also be afflicted with some pictures and ramblings of a mother-to-be.  =)

I hope you all have a wonderful President's Day whether you are working or not!

I have my own house but...

As I mentioned in my last post, the hubby and I have moved into our own little home just a couple of weeks ago.  And I have to own up to two things here.  One: this is the first year in a long time that I have not made up my New Year's resolutions.  And the sad reason why is that I was too busy at home spending time with dear family and friends.  =) Secondly, due to said lack of "resolution", I have been procrastinating a great deal on my unpacking and settling in.  My excuse is that we still haven't gotten all of our furniture (including some big pieces like the piano that is being moved in on Saturday) so it would seem somewhat pointless to put a ton of energy into the house just to have to rearrange everything.

But the lack of order in my living room and kitchen areas has not stopped me from fantasizing over what I would really love to have it all look like when I'm done.  And there are more than a few things that I would like to slowly but surely add to my newest endeavor which is my house.  =)  If I can ever decide which room will be decorated in what style or what color or all of those other details I have yet to deal with...

So let's start this wishlist.

I found these beautiful prints in my jaunt around Etsy looking for things that I will drool over in my house.  And I feel in love with how feminine these beachy fine art prints look.  I can totally see a set of three or so of these in a sequence on my side of the bedroom with a more masculine set of prints on the hubby's side.  Pretty cute, huh?

I don't know how else to describe what I think of this bench but I LOVE it.  The color, the simple beach style...yeah.  Would LOVE this in my entry way.  Maybe...

Rug

It's so colorful!!!  I love it!  Most of the house is carpeted (which I still would put an area rug over) but with a nice soft cottony area rug like this, it might just be what my kitchen sink space needs.  Something to get my cold tootsies off of the cold tile.  =)

Those are just a few of my household wishlist items.  And I'm really excited to start slowly shopping around!

Have a beautiful day!

My Unintended Hiatus

As you all probably noticed, I have been rather MIA after Christmas.  I do have several very good reasons for this.  A few of them are as follows:

  • Visiting family in Hawaii.  My brother was getting ready to ship out with the Army and we all wanted to make the most of our last few days with him as a civilian.  =)  We had some awesome nights playing games and eating all of our favorite childhood foods.  ::sigh:: It made me want to go back to those days.  You know, the easy ones - or at least we realize they were easy now.  =)
me and my handsome Army brother  =)
  • Hubby started a new job.  This has been going pretty well so far but there are things that I wanted to be able to talk to him about and hear about and all those little things that happen during the day and things like that.
  • We moved into a new house.  This is pretty obviously the biggest of the three...at least in the amount of work that it requires to make it happen.  =)  We are renting a cute house near where we were living before but it is ours (we had been living with hubby's grandma for a while because we were trying really hard to buy a house with the market being so low).  But God had other plans and the buying the house thing hasn't worked out yet. But we are getting to play at it by renting this place.  I will take pictures and show you around once I get things more settled and put away.  I'm afraid the place looks very disheveled right now.
I am excited to try this new year though.  I say "try" because so many things are changing so quickly that I think it will take me a little while to adjust.  But my goal in the next few days and weeks is to get caught up on all my blogging and blogging friends and to share with you some of the things that have been going on in my life since Christmas.

Have a beautiful day!  I'm loving SoCal's 80 degree weather today.  Come and visit!  I have a guest room now!  =)
